In the final game of the season versus Bow Valley High School in the league semi-final on May 28, the Strathmore High School Spartans boys rugby team put in a great effort ,but lost 39-19.

They were able to keep the game close for the first half, but they pulled ahead in the second half.  Meeting Bow Valley in last year's zone final SHS didn't score any tries.

This year the Spartans scored three tries and kept them working hard for every point they scored.

Head Coach Brad Steele said, "There was lots of great individual effort, which creates a strong team. This was a very good team this year and we had some very strong grade 12 players that played for all three years of high school and a few who started just this year."

The program gets a good start by exposing some of the players to rugby at Crowther Memorial Junior High School.

This season the Spartans had three wins and one loss and the team also won their first playoff game 40-5.
