The Lindsay Thurber Raiders brought their "A" game last Friday as the Strathmore Spartans worked to get their footing, but there was a swing in momentum that was hard to overcome.

The Spartans started off great with a ten-play drive to the end zone, but that is where the offense lost some steam.

The Raiders got a 75-yard run followed by a pick 6 that had the Spartans reeling because both plays occurred within the last 20 seconds of the first quarter.

Another touchdown and field goal by the raiders put them up 24-0 going into half time.

In the second half, at line change was called and the Spartans subbed in their JVs, and grade 10 QB led the offense down the field and scored on a 2-yard quarterback sneak.

Running Back Sebastein Stroud then converted the two-point conversion. Head coach Travis Gorski talked about the extreme effort by his young RB, "Stroud had an exceptional game and showed great vision and speed, running the ball. He was the spark plug that ignited our offence in the second half."

The Spartan's coaching staff chalked up the experience and felt it was a great experience as they were able to get their entire roster significant playing time.

Next week they plan to reduce the playing roster as they return to league play.

The final score was Strathmore Spartans 8 Lindsay Thurber Raiders 32

Their record is three wins and three losses as they push towards their Thursday game against Holy Trinity Academy in Okotoks at 5 pm.
