The Strathmore Fire Department is looking for broken-down vehicles.

Staff say the vehicles will be used to simulate real-world scenarios like rescuing entrapped people, victim removal and identifying vehicle fire causes.

Fire Chief Dave Sturgeon says any type of vehicle will be used, "If we have bigger vehicles like trucks or vans or work vans. Armored vehicles, kind of anything just helps us refine our skills and practice on things we don't see every day."

The department runs a roster of just under 50 crew members, meaning full time and paid on call members help make up the department.

Vehicles can be dropped off at the fire department or towed at no cost to you.

Legal proof of ownership is required with a current or expired registration, or a bill of sale.

If you'd like to donate a vehicle you can contact the fire department directly here.
