The Strathmore High School Spartans Football Team (2-3) had an impressive win last week which saw the team grind out a close game with a well-balanced effort. Tomorrow, they'll look to build off of that momentum when the rival Drumheller Titans visit at 4 PM.

Head Coach Danny Warrack is looking forward to facing their rivals in what he expects will be another hard-fought, exciting game.

"They're usually a good, tough, physical team. They like to blitz a lot. Offensively, they run the ball fairly hard. They kind of run an old school double wing offense at times and they run that well. They've also the last few years definitely opened up their offense and have more of a pass game now, and from what I've seen it looks pretty good. So they're going to be a tough matchup, we always have good, close games with them."

The Spartans' defense has seen improvement every week, so Warrack has confidence that they'll step up to the challenge of the Titans' well-rounded offense. The big story from last week is the offense finally stepping up, and Warrack says they'll have their hands full when handling the aggressive Drumheller defense.

"They bring a lot of pressure. They do a pretty good job of stopping the run, so we're going to have to be ready for that for sure. Ball security is going to be a big thing, we gotta win the turnover battle."

Last week's offensive success came largely in part to a quarterback switch. Dylan Elliott stepped in, while former QB Brady Johansen lined up all over the offense. Warrack will keep this going since it worked last week. With the improvement shown last week, Warrack is hoping the team can continue to build off the good things they did as they prepare for Drumheller.

"They had some good moments. It wasn't quite where I wanted it to be all the time, but it was definitely a step in the right direction."

You can cheer the Spartans on at 4 PM at the Strathmore High School football field.
