Cody Holdaway is the new General Manager for the Strathmore Wheatland Kings Junior Hockey Team.

"The Wheatland Kings and Lee Smith have mutually agreed to part ways; the Kings have relieved Lee of all his duties. We thank Lee for his many years of dedication to the Wheatland Kings organization," Kings Team President Mark Bishop said in a statement.

The transition for Holdaway and the team went pretty smoothly, but according to Holdaway, Strathmore is now in a new era of Hockey.

"We're working hard to develop more sponsors this year to improve the playing experience for our players and the fan experience for our fans coming to our home games. We are looking to improve things all around," Holdaway explained.

Holdaway was the assistant general manager for several years before assuming the general manager role, and he explained how they are currently looking at a few guys for that position.

"Nothing is set in stone yet, but we have a couple of guys in mind for that position."

What Holdaway wants for his team as we advance is the same as any general manager's.

"We always want to see the team headed to a championship, but for next season, our primary goal is to make the playoffs and return to being a playoff team."
