Hockey is coming back, and our home team Strathmore Wheatland Kings are gearing up for the action! The local junior B hockey club will be hosting their main camp this August 27-29th.

Kings General Manager Lee Smith said we can expect a lot of our skaters to be more local on this year's roster.

“A lot of the guys that are coming up have been through the AA program in Strathmore,” he said.

“We've got some kids from the city we're looking at coming as well.”

The team also has a solid coaching staff behind the bench who will be returning this year.

The Kings have hosted a few voluntary skates up to now which the general manager says have had good turnout. “We'll start skating again right away”

The HJHL begins on the weekend of September 17th. The first game for the Kings will be on September 16th, followed by another on the 17th, with their home game on September 18th at 4 p.m. It’s likely the team will have a few exhibition games in between.

The team is also looking for a few more great local businesses to act as sponsors. If you’re interested in supporting our local athletes, or to try out for the Strathmore Wheatland Kings, contact Smith on the team website at www.wheatlandkings.com.
