The team at the Legion was looking forward to bringing people together on Saturday, March 21 to celebrate ST. Patricks Day, unfortunately with the latest release from Alberta Health Services (AHS) stating that events with more than 50 attendees that involve international participants, critical infrastructure staff, seniors, or other high-risk populations should be cancelled they have made the difficult decision to cancel the event.

Even with the event being cancelled the Legion will be continuing with their fundraising efforts. "We still have a big 50/50 draw and we are working to get that one up there to be one of our biggest, so we're hoping to sell as many tickets as we can and we are asking for everybody's help in buying some tickets to support the legion," said Kevin Clark Sergeant In Arms of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #10.

You can still get your tickets by contacting the Legion through their facebook page or getting in touch with the legion directly at their location.

Tickets for this 50/50 are only two dollars each and if the tickets sell out the winning pot would be $5000, currently, the pot stands at $1500. The draw was scheduled to be made at this Saturdays' ST. Patricks Day event, with the cancellation they still want to make this a big draw for one lucky winner and will still go ahead with the draw on Saturday.

The money raised from this draw will be going to help with repairs at the legion. Clark is thankful for local community business and their support, "We had a local contractor who kindly came in and repaired the roof at just the cost of the materials but we still have to pay him for that."

The repairs to the roof have been completed, however, there are still repairs needed to the interior where there has been damage done over the past few years.

The Legion will continue to support the community and once the restrictions are lifted they are committed to bringing great events back to Strathmore to keep everyone connected.
