Some of the world's best bronco riders are heading to Gleichen tonight for the Gunners Bronc Battle.

Top riders like Damian Brennan from Australia will be competing at the event along with other big Canadian talent.

Brad Corbiell is on the committee for the event and says over $25,000 will be split up between the top winners.

"We allow 30 bronc riders. So, in the long round all 30 guys go. And then the top eight come back to the short round. The top eight split that money up."

Corbiell told us the first-place winner will receive anywhere from $8,000 to $9,000.

Riders will also be competing to make the National Finals Rodeo.

"Besides the saddle broncs we have a novice saddle bronc. There's I think 10 novice guys. We have a wild pony race. Piper Yule, she's kind of world-renowned now. She travels all around North America with her liberty horse act and her trick riding. She's here," added Corbiell.

The event draws quite the crowd from as far as Saskatchewan, to areas like Medicine Hat, Lethbridge, Brooks and Stettler.

"We've been traditionally over the last few years getting 400-500 people," says Corbiell.

You can check out some of the bucking broncs starting at 6 p.m. tonight at the Gleichen Ag Society Arena.
