Today (April 11) is the start of Trash to Treasure Days in Strathmore.

Starting now until April 14, Strathmore residents can give any unwanted but usable items they may have a new home.

Trash to Treasure Days gives unwanted items a new life while keeping them out of landfills.

These days run the week before Heavy Item Garbage (HIG) collection.

According to the Town of Strathmore's website, simply put out any unwanted items marked with a visible HIG tag in the same location you would typically put items in for HIG collection.

People can then take any items for free and find a new use for something that would otherwise end up in landfills.

Anything that is left over or doesn’t get picked up during Trash to Treasure Days can be left out until it gets picked up the following week during HIG collection.

Some items that qualify for Trash to Treasure and HIG pickup include:

  • Sofas and couches
