Strathmore and surrounding area residents will receive their 2024 War Amps key tags in the mail starting this week.

Bob Maguire, Public Awareness Specialist for the War Amps, says the key tag program helps safeguard their property.

"Fobs are getting expensive nowadays. They can cost up to $500, and if you have one of these key tags and you lose it, the War Amps will return your keys free of charge."

According to Maguire, if you find a pair of keys you can call the 1-800 number on the back of the tag or place the keys in any red Canada Post mailbox.

"Our key tag program is completely free, but if you are willing to, you can donate, and those donations go a long way to support a child amputee in Alberta and across the country."

The War Amps does not receive any government grants. With the public’s support of the Key Tag Service, Maguire says the association is making a difference in the lives of amputees, including children, by providing financial assistance for the cost of artificial limbs, peer support, and information on all aspects of living with amputation.

Those who do not receive their key tags in the mail can order them at waramps.ca or call toll-free 1 800 250-3030.
