Weather Network Released its spring forecast.

Earlier this week, the Weather Network released their forecast prediction for this spring, and things might not warm up as soon as Airdronians hope.

As Airdrie has had multiple warm spells and of course, cold ones this winter, according to The Weather Network’s 2023 Spring Forecast for March, April and May things will take a little longer to have consistent warmer weather this spring.

According to the Weather Network winter lacked commitment during the winter months so it will make up for it these next few months. Several more rounds of wintry weather are expected across the country before spring finally arrives.

The primary driver of the spring weather pattern is the fading La Niña (the cool phases of a recurring climate pattern) pattern which has been with us for the past three years, explained the network.

"In addition, a strong blocking pattern is developing over the Arctic, and the polar vortex is expected to be more displaced than normal during the first half of the season. This combination should deliver colder than normal temperatures at times during March and into April."

When it comes to precipitation, it is expected to be slightly above normal for the spring.

"The Prairies are one area that we will be watching closely, especially since parts of the region are experiencing a multi-year drought. Receiving adequate spring precipitation across this region will be critical to a successful agricultural season."
