The Strathmore Wheatland Kings were in fine form as they defeated the Lomond Lakers in a 7-0 shutout on the road on Friday night.

The last time the Kings played the Lakers was on Saturday December 14 where the Kings were defeated 3 to 1.

In the first Kyle Malmberg got the Kings on the board with a goal from Cade Jackson, and Will Kathol. The Kings made it 2-0 with a goal by Kody Hammond from Wacy Sandum. Then the team started to pull away with the lead as Jaycob Masciangelo made it 3-0 with a goal from Steve Wilks. Masciangelo would score two more times earning a hat trick. His second goal was in the second period, from Kyle Malmberg, and Will Kathol. The hat trick goal in the second period again from Malmberg, and Kathol.

Wilks closed the second period for the Kings with a goal assisted by Chase Clayton. The Kings earned their 7-0 shutout when Garret Vander Ploeg scored the final goal unassisted at 8:28. Kings goalie Brett Willan made 25 saves in the game.

The next game for the Kings will be on the road against the Rocky Rams on January 11 at Rocky Mountain House, then a match against the Ponoka Stampeders on January 12, before the team is home on Saturday January 18 as they face the Mountainview Colts at 8 p.m.
