This weekend is the final weekend of hockey for the Strathmore Wheatland Kings Junior B hockey club.

The team traveled to Coaldate on Saturday to play the Copperheads. They were defeated 5 to 2. Wacy Sandum scored from Jayden Hendricks to open up scoring for the Kings in the first period.

Unfortunately the Copperheads scored three goals in the second. The first of the period was on a Coppperheads powerplay But the Kings were able to put a second puck in the net in the third period, when Kody Hammond scored from Garret Vander Ploeg and Wacy Sandum. The Copperheads put two more points on the board, their final on a powerplay. Kings goalie Brett Wilan made 34 saves, and played the entire 60 minutes.

This Friday the team will host their final two games of the season. One on Friday February 7 against the Sylvan Lake Wranglers at 8 p.m. and then on Saturday at 8 p.m. against the Ponoka Stampeders.
