The team with the Wheatland Society of Arts offers more than just the basics.  With classes for all age ranges, and hosting birthday parties they are trying to reach out to everyone with something happening every day.

They offer many different classes as well as free time in the studio, during that time they have a Calgary artist come out to work with people.

Shaelyn Sullivan Art Instructor says, "There is open studio time with Calgary Artist Ken Bourassa, you can bring any project you are currently working on, or you can come and Ken can help you find a project to start on, you can use materials here for a donation."

Today we stopped in at the parent and preschool class and got to see three year old Freddie Hubbard painting with his mum Heather, Freddie says "I've been here before and I've been here now, my favourite part is painting and reading books."

There are certain classes that just require a donation and some do have a cost that is dependant on the class, there are volunteers as well as instructors on site during the classes. Sullivan says that they do get busier in the fall and winter as people are always looking for something fun and creative to do so it is good to check their facebook page for upcoming times and classes.
