A fire broke out at the Strathmore Ag grounds on Thursday morning at approximately 11:42 a.m.

Strathmore Ag Society GM Ryan Schmidt said blaze impacted their outdoor storage closet.

"The fire started in our hay and straw stockpile. There were some additional Halloween decorations also stored in there that suffered some damage."

The Strathmore Fire Department (SFD) had the fire controlled in minutes.

Schmidt added he is very grateful for the SFD's handling of the situation.

"The Ag society is very thankful for their prompt response they have the fire completely under control and they're just spreading out the hay and watering it down to make sure there's no reignition later."

There is no known cause of the fire, it is currently under investigation.
