Despite ongoing water restrictions in the City of Calgary, the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth will continue.

Officials with the Calgary Stampede made the call today that the event will go on with a planned start date of July 5.

The city mentioned this past weekend that the ongoing work to repair a broken water main will continue for the next three to five weeks.

Staff with the Stampede say they are working on ways to limit the use of city water during the 10-day event including bringing in treated water from other places and using non-potable water.

The event will run from July 5-14.
