Siksika Day is on September 22 which marks the anniversary of the signing of Treaty 7. Treaty 7 was the last of the numbered Treaties that was made between the Government of Canada and the Plains First Nations. 

Siksika Nation and the Strathmore Library are hosting events to recognize this important day. First the Siksika support center is hosting a Powwow which will feature dance specials, drummers, ribbon skirt and owl dance competitions. This event will be taking place at 3:00 on September 21 in the Siksika Powwow Arbour.

The Blackfoot Crossing Historical Park will be having a BBQ on September 22 that is ope to all, there will be a Handgame Tournament, Hand Drum Contest and Farmers Market. Visitors can also view the historical exhibits on display at Blackfoot Crossing which is also where Treaty 7 was signed.

In Strathmore, the Library will have family activities, traditional food and story time with an Elder, this event is free to attend on September 22nd from 1-4 pm.
