Technology and data in the agriculture sector will be taking centre stage at Olds College this Summer.

The College has partnered with Red Deer's Agri-Trade to put on a new event called Ag Smart from Tuesday, August 13 to Wednesday, August 14.

Ag Smart Industry Advisory Committee Member, Eric Brodie, says there will be hands-on demonstrations for both livestock and crop technology.

"When you're there, and you have the expert with you, you can go through and push the buttons with the expert beside you, and you can learn hands-on and see what each technology can do to help better your farming practices and help you become more profitable."

The event will also feature workshops and trade show exhibits.

Farmers at the event will be in for a treat with the autonomous farming system, DOT, making its Alberta debut.

The robotic platform will be doing a demonstration working with the sprayer implement.

Other technology being featured at the event includes Agri Green Enterprises' Hay Dryer, CERVUS Equipment's Harvest Mobile and Feedlot Health Management's Automated Individual Medication Delivery System to name a few.
