A great program to get young golfers playing who otherwise would not have the opportunity to do has been created at the Strathmore Golf Course. This is the second time that the course has debuted the program.

Brad Gagne Golf Pro at the Strathmore Golf Club is grateful to be able to offer this program, “So, we're doing a program called New Kids on the Course, which is a program sponsored by Jim and Audrey Cammaert, as well as the Strathmore Golf Club. Golf is quite an expensive sport in general so we're trying to introduce two junior golfers who otherwise would not have an opportunity to play golf to the Golf Club.”

Included in the free junior membership is free use of rental clubs and pull carts, free driving range passes, entry into journal league, and private golf lessons.

“I've worked at a private club and I've worked at a fully public golf course and junior memberships go anywhere from about $600 to $1,200. I've never worked anywhere that has given two junior memberships away so it’s a great opportunity,” Gagne continued.

There has been interest in the program from the public, and Gagne said that they have also handed out flyers in schools in town.

“Our Board of Directors will put together a committee to choose the two memberships. It was the board's idea to do something like this.”

Anyone aged 12-17 is eligible to apply for the New Kids on the Course program.
