The Strathmore Reds 13UA Team 2 recently celebrated a first-place finish at the top of the league in their playoff run, as they beat the Langdon Strikers Orange to take home the gold medal.

Assistant Coach David Hofer said the entire season was great, and was impressed by the team's dedication to improving and winning.

"We started off strong, had a slump here and there, but the boys definitely from the beginning of the season to the end had major improvements, definitely came together as a team. When it came to playoffs, we pulled it together and had some pretty close games, but managed to squeak them out at the end," he said.

Hofer said the team's maturity characterized their season, as they were very willing to take advice from the coaches and put in the work needed to finish the season on top. Despite their young age, Hofer said their dedication and mental maturity to overcome slumps and adversity was a huge reason why they had such a great year.

"There's so many ups and downs just in a single game, and to see them persevere through those ones and then throughout the whole season, we're very proud."

"The way that the boys really took to the coaches and willingness to learn and advance their skills in the game of baseball, it was just overall a really enjoyable season as a coach."

Beyond the team's strong mindset, Hofer added they also had great team chemistry. Despite some of the players not knowing each other prior to the start of the season he said by the end of the year they really gelled and came together.
