Strathmore Value Drug Mart made a generous donation to True North on Thursday (Nov. 30).

The local store gave gifts and personal care items.

"Stacie and Gordon (Morck) at Value Drug Mart has been a longtime supporter of our Christmas campaigns and our family enjoyment program. So it's gratifying to continue this relationship," said Amanda Vanderlaan, Public Educator of True North.

True North, formally the Wheatland Crisis Society, saw a 19 per cent increase in individuals and families entering the shelter and a 27 per cent increase in crisis calls over the last year.

COO of Strathmore Value Drug Mart, Stacie Morck, expressed that True North is important to the community.

"I worry sometimes at Christmas. You don't want any children to go without. You don't want anybody to feel like they're left out or not welcome."

She told StrathmoreNow.com that she once found herself in a related circumstance.

"When I was in a situation, I had to use a similar service and I was very glad to have that accommodation for myself, so I want to give back."
