The Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign raised $20,232.57 this year for Strathmore FCSS.

"So, for a week in May, we decorate chocolate chunk cookies, and we decorate them with a smile. Then we sell them for $1.50, and the entire $1.50 goes to a local charity or organization," explained Kevin Korpi, franchise owner of Edgefield and Pine Road Tim Hortons in Strathmore.

Strathmore FCSS has been a campaign partner with Strathmore Tim Hortons for eight years and has raised some important dollars.

"In eight years, we have raised $116,783 for the program."

According to Korpi, everyone who works at his location gets behind the fundraiser.

"It feels good for all of us to give back to the community, and the cool thing about it is that the people of Strathmore are supporting it. They understand that the money stays local, and there's a need for it here."

Korpi explains just how much the residents of Strathmore support the Smile Cookie program.

"The program raised 18.8 million nationally in Canada, which is quite impressive. It's a little bit less than $0.50 per person across the country, but when you look at our numbers here in Strathmore, we're triple the national average, which is something to be proud of."

The next Smile Cookie campaign is set to happen in November with holiday cookies.
