The Strathmore Wheatland Kings are taking some time to recover from a busy three-game weekend. The team took on High River on Friday, Coaldale on Saturday and Medicine Hat on Sunday.

They lost to High River on Friday, but picked it back up on Saturday and Sunday, winning back-to-back games.

“We played at home on Saturday night. We played Coaldale really, really well,” explained General Manager for the Kings, Lee Smith. We beat them 4-3 They are one place higher in the standings in us, so that was good.”

“We played Medicine Hat yesterday and they were in second place and they are a couple of places ahead of us. We beat them in overtime 5-4, so overall it was a pretty good weekend.”

The Kings have been struggling lately, but this new winning streak has really lifted the spirits of the team.

“Hopefully it's turned the corner for us and we can win over the next couple of weeks to finish off. We've only got six games left in the regular season,” Smith continued.

The Kings are currently in fourth overall in their division which guarantees them a spot in the playoffs. Smith said that they are looking to get some more points in their pocket before the playoffs start.
