UPDATE - Gleichen RCMP reopen Highway 1 after incident

UPDATE***

At approximately 4:30 am on Sunday, morning RCMP advise that Highway 1 between Highway 56 and Range Road 202 had been reopened. 

One adult male was taken into custody and charges are pending at this time, there were no reported injuries. 

At approximately 8 p.m. Sunday October 9th the Gleichen RCMP had closed a section of Highway 1 located between Highway 56 and Range Road 202 due to an incident that required a heavy police presence. 

The area was contained by the police who were asking motorists during the time of the closure to avoid the area and use alternate routes.  Police also noted that there was no risk to the public during the closure.
