On March 27, around 10 p.m., Drumheller Municipal Traffic Unit stopped a grey 2003 Chevrolet pickup truck during routine patrols.

The vehicle was searched in the alley of the 500 block of 3rd Avenue West in Drumheller, and two adult males were detained.

During the search, law enforcement discovered the following illegal drugs, including:

  • 33.8 grams of methamphetamine
  • 1.5 grams of crack cocaine
  • 136 clonazepam pills
  • And other evidence of drug trafficking was present, including a scale and quantities of cash.

As a result, a 50-year-old man from Wheatland County was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking

It was also discovered that the same man was found to have three outstanding warrants for his arrest.

He was released on an undertaking and is set to appear in the Drumheller Court of Justice on June 14.

His identity currently remains unknown.

The other man was not charged and was released.

According to Drumheller RCMP Staff Sergeant Robert Harms, “proactive patrols are a key part of policing and our crime reduction strategy. This traffic stop resulted in several officers at the scene investigating, and yet again, more drugs were removed off the streets of Drumheller.”
