The Canadian Oilfield Riders will be taking a cruise for a cause this weekend.

The 33rd annual Charity Ride event will start off at Hidden Creek Ranch with an end destination of Wayne, Alberta in Drumheller.

The initiative is meant to raise money for the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation.

Glenn Doiron, the president of the group says the ride started back in 1988.

"Larry Peterson and some other folks had - it was one of their friends actually that had a child that was not doing well and that's kind of what got this event going back then and it's carried on."

According to Doiron, the organization is hoping to raise $35,000 for this year's event.

"That's still to be determined, but I think it's very achievable. I think we're pretty much there. We'll confirm the numbers on the day of."
