For the second consecutive year, Canadian Tire broke their own record for biggest donation to the Strathmore and Wheatland Christmas Hamper Society! Last year they raised $6200, and this year they upped the ante with an incredible $7000 raised by collecting donations at the tills this month.

Canadian Tire owner Michael Tourond said the generosity of the community is what made this record setting donation possible.

"We certainly leveraged the generosity of Strathmore for an amazing charity where every dollar stays here in Strathmore and we know it's going to help a lot of families, so we're super proud of it and feeling good of it," he said.

"Every year I'm blown away. It's not a difficult process raising money for this charity here at Canadian Tire. Everybody that we ask for the most part steps up and believes in the charity and we're super grateful for that."

Strathmore has always had a supportive community, and a big part of that is businesses like Canadian Tire that work to create these fundraisers to help our local charities. Tourond said for him, choosing to take part in events like this is an easy decision, as they also want to get involved in helping our community to help out when they can.

"We're supporting the community that supports us. We're a member of this community and this store exists because of our community, and if we can make people's lives better by supporting them with some fundraising it's the least we can do."
