Drivers are going to see a lot more large equipment on the roads as farmers are moving from field to field to get their crops planted.

Agriculture for Life CEO, Luree Williamson, says drivers need to slow down.

"We need to ensure we are being patient and giving the operator of the large equipment time to react in terms of being able to see you on the road."

Williamson says farmers are very aware of their surroundings when operating large machinery, however, when vehicles come up behind slow-moving equipment too fast, farmers may have a hard time seeing them.

They also precaution farmers can take to keep everyone safe of the roads.

Williamson understands it's very important to save as much time as possible when working this busy time of year, but road safety should still be a priority.

"We want to encourage farmers and ranchers to avoid the high traffic times moving equipment, avoid the busy roads if they can, and of course, bad weather and night driving."

She reminds producers to make sure flashers, flags and slow-moving vehicle signs are visible before hitting roads, as well as taking time to plan out your route to see if there's any overhead power lines which could be a potential danger.

At the end of the day, Williamson says it's important drivers use their common sense to slow down and be safe on the roads.
