Corban Knight, who grew up in High River from the age of 11, has made the final cut for Team Canada's hockey team.

Knight, drafted 135th in 2009 by the Florida Panthers, played with the Calgary Flames, the Panthers as well as the Philadelphia Flyers.

For the last three seasons, he's played in the KHL including winning their equivalent of the Stanley Cup, the Gagarin Cup, in 2021.

Knight played U18 with the Strathmore UFA Bisons prior to joining the Okotoks Oilers for his junior hockey in 2007-08 and 2008-09.

He was awarded the AJHL Rookie of the Year award in 2008-09 after notching 72 points in 61 games.

Team Canada kicks off the Olympic tournament in Group A on Feb. 10 versus Germany before they tangle with the U.S.A. on Feb. 12 and they close out the round-robin with a game against the host team, China on Feb. 13.
